Overview
The OVO x Clarks partnership emerged from a shared respect for heritage, craft, and cultural continuity. Both brands occupy a space where history is not referenced for nostalgia, but carried forward through restraint, intention, and lived relevance.
Silhouettes like the Desert Boot and Wallabee have long existed at the intersection of music, style, and everyday life, worn organically rather than positioned through trend. For OVO, these styles were already part of the uniform.
The collaboration created an opportunity to honor that lineage while refining it through OVO’s lens. The focus was not reinvention, but elevation through material choice, subtle branding, and thoughtful proportion.
Across multiple releases, the work explored how a classic can evolve without losing its identity, reinforcing that timeless design and cultural understanding can move forward together without compromise.
Role & Scope
I led footwear design and product direction across the OVO x Clarks partnership, overseeing the Desert Boot and Wallabee from initial concept through final production.
The work required close collaboration with Clarks teams across regions. I spent time on site at Clarks headquarters in England and with development partners in Italy, working directly with their teams to align creative intent, materials, and execution across multiple releases.
My role centered on defining a clear point of view rooted in restraint, craft, and cultural understanding. Decisions around material, proportion, and detail were made to honor Clarks’ heritage while expressing OVO’s identity through quiet brand language embedded into the product itself.
Beyond the footwear, I helped shape the overall presentation of the collaboration, aligning product, packaging, and storytelling so the final execution felt cohesive, intentional, and authentic to both brands.
Desert Boot
Produced in England for the first time in decades, the Desert Boot returned to its roots.
Built in 2.2 mm Janus butt suede from Charles F. Stead, Clarks’ original tannery, the material was chosen for its depth and ability to age beautifully over time.
Three colorways shaped the story.
Milkshake honored the original Desert Boot.
Black refined the silhouette through a tonal crepe outsole.
Deep purple pushed the form forward without breaking from its roots.
Each pair was handstitched, reinforcing the craft behind the silhouette. Construction remained authentic, pairing the natural crepe sole with a leather running board in the midsole, details largely absent from modern production.
A custom monogram drew from West Indian style and celebration, where confidence and individuality have long shaped personal dress. Know Yourself, one of OVO’s core mottos, lived quietly behind the tongue. Tonal waxed laces and a custom hangtag completed the execution.

Wallabee
The Wallabee has long lived at the intersection of sound, style, and everyday life. Its presence spans Jamaican dancehall culture, New York rap, and British subcultures, worn not as a statement piece but as part of the uniform.
While distinct in form, the silhouette was shaped by the same design framework established with the Desert Boot. The debossed monogram functioned as a quiet throughline, reinforcing cohesion without relying on overt branding.
Each pair was handmade in Italy using Bronto suede from Charles F. Stead. Contrast collar and trim details added dimension, while a branded fob and woven Italian flag label grounded the execution in craft and origin.
The natural crepe outsole retained its original amber tone to preserve the Wallabee’s core DNA. Colorways in black, sand, burnt orange, and dusty blue balanced familiarity with individuality, allowing expression without disrupting the silhouette’s foundation.
Process
The focus was getting the fundamentals right.
Materials were reviewed in hand to understand weight, texture, and long term wear. Working closely with Clarks and Charles F. Stead, suedes were tested across colorways for depth, consistency, and durability.
Debossing was refined per leather, adjusting pressure and scale to maintain clarity without compromising the surface.
Construction was sampled repeatedly, dialing stitching, edge finish, crepe density, and internal structure to preserve the integrity of the original forms while elevating the feel in hand.
Impact
The OVO x Clarks partnership showed how heritage silhouettes can move forward without losing their foundation. Traditional construction met a modern point of view, allowing Clarks’ legacy to remain intact while OVO expressed its identity through material, proportion, and restraint. Nothing was added for effect. Every decision served the product. The work expanded OVO’s footwear language beyond sport and reinforced Clarks’ place in premium lifestyle footwear.
